County Seniors’ Centre Helps Combat Social Isolation

What started with one person has quickly grown into a lively weekly gathering for coffee, conversation and connection each Friday morning at the County Seniors’ Centre. A report from Community Care for Seniors, funded by the Retired Teachers of Ontario Foundation, highlighted the urgent need for a County Seniors’ Centre to reduce isolation among older adults. With 35 percent of Prince Edward County residents over age 65—nearly double the provincial average—the need is especially pressing. Peggy Hallward: A Life of Giving Back After a rewarding career with Environment Canada, Peggy Hallward embraced retirement with the same energy she brought to her work. Every morning, before her children stirred, she would knit and then head out for a long walk—routines that remain part of her daily life today. A tradition to deliver Meals on Wheels

Delivering Meal on Wheels in the month of May has become a tradition for Mike Branscombe, Fire Prevention Officer with Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue.
