On September 26, Community Care for Seniors met Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp to share information on community support services.

Older adults are the fastest growing age category in Ontario and currently 35 percent of County residents are over the age of 65—nearly double the provincial average. Services for seniors are critical to the vitality of many of Prince Edward County’s residents. Everyone needs community support services — if not today, then at some point in their lives.

From Meals on Wheels and transportation to medical appointments, exercise classes, friendly visiting, and more, community support services are deeply rooted in local communities.

In the past year, Prince Edward Community Care delivered over 1,000 active living programs to more than 300 local seniors to stay active and connected to their community and with the help of 612 volunteers we supported 2,916 clients to live at home.

These services do more than support daily living — they deliver prevention, health promotion, and promote community independence that keep people healthy, reduce hospital visits, and ease demand on long-term care.

Barb Proctor, President the Prince Edward County Community Care Foundation, Debbie MacDonald Moynes, Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Executive Director, and Peter Landry, President Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association met with Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp to share information on vital community support services.
