MLP providing MOW for Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors

The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association has been delivering hot Meals on Wheels to County residents for 45 years.  Following the retirement of long-time meal provider Bill Grieve of Wheelhouse & Occasions Catering, Community Care was in need of a second local meal provider for the program. The Manor on Loyalist Parkway (MLP) Retirement Residence stepped up to the task, in alignment with Community Care, with the goal to promote dignity, independence, and quality of life for all seniors.  “MLP joins the H. Supporting Seniors at Home: Quinte Health Leadership Experiences Community Care in Action

In December 2024, Ameliasburgh resident Judith Zelmanovits sustained a leg fracture while travelling in Mexico. Shortly after returning home, her husband George became ill, requiring surgery. “I knew that we needed help to continue living at home independently and my first call was to Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors to arrange Meals on Wheels,” said Judith. “They have been amazing, and I am grateful for all their services to help seniors live at home. “I enjoy the hot, nutritious meals delivered to our door and we also keep a supply of the frozen meals handy. Celebrating 15 years of joy and connection

Bill Grieve of Wheelhouse and Occasions Catering and Debbie MacDonald Moynes, Executive Director of Prince Edward Community Care celebrate 15 years of building community joy and connection, as Bill prepared his final meal for the Meals on Wheels program on January 31. As the oldest of five children, Bill Grieve’s chores included helping his parents prepare meals. That eventually led him to a seven-year apprenticeship in Scotland working six days a week in a kitchen with one day off to go to school. “I left Scotland to come to Canada in 1975 with a friend to open a new Four Seasons Hotel for the Montreal Olympics,” says Grieve.
