Using it every day

L-R Joyce Young of the PEC Quilters' Guild and her grandson Nick present quilted placemats to Debbie MacDonald Moynes, executive director of Community Care for Seniors.

"We've been making them all year" said Joyce Young as she presented quilted placemats to The Prince Edward County
Community Care for Seniors Association. These are handmade with love and will be given to seniors who receive Meals on Wheels. The presentation was made by Joyce, with the help of her grandson Nice, on behalf of the 20 members of the Prince Edward Quilters' Guild who participated in making the placemats.

"We did it last year" Joyce said, "and we had lots of feedback from the seniors and their families who received a
placemat. Some seniors said wow, was that ever nice and I use it every day."

There are over 80 women in the Prince Edward County Quilters' Guild. They meet at Pinecrest School in Bloomfield on the second Wednesday of every month from 6:30 to 9:30pm.  All are welcome to attend and quilt.

The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association offers services such as Meals on Wheels, transportation to medical appointments, noon-time dinners for seniors, foot care, help with forms (including Income Tax), respite, home maintenance, rural route reassurance and telephone reassurance programs.  The agency is partly funded by the Ministry of Health & Long-Term Care through the Local Health Integration Network and supported by donations and community fundraising efforts, such as Community Care's Thrift Shop at 281 Main Street.
