A Banner Year for Community Care
Part of Community Care's marketing and fundraising initiatives includes updating the website to include donations by debit card. Debbie Moynes, executive director, says that the website "has been designed and managed by Anne VanVlack of InfoLink" When Anne called and offered us the chance to be involved with this new way of taking payments on-line the agency jumped at the chance." VanVlack believes that "this is an exciting advance for e-commerce, I never thought it would happen in Canada!" VanVlack is General Manager of EtherlinX's E-Business Solutions Inc. which is launching the on-line debit with UseMyBank. "UseMyBank's direct debit payment service is just what the online world has been waiting for." Celebrating at an open house on October 16th in The Armoury, Community Care staff and board members conducted tours of the office showcasing the new ergonomic office furniture that has been installed, as well as the up-to-date computer system. Trillium dollars also installed a new washer and dryer in the Thrift Shop. New shelves also improved the display of goods. Ontario Trillium Foundation local Grant Review Team member, Norm Sheasby, presented Hall with a plaque "Investing in Communities 2003". On hand for the presentation were Ernie Parsons, MPP and Mayor James Taylor. Community Care gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, an agency of the Ministry Culture. The Foundation receives annually $100 million in government funding generated through Ontario's charity casino initiative. It provides grants to eligible charitable and not-for-profit organizations in the arts, culture, sports, recreation, environment and social service sectors. The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association provides community support services to eligible seniors and adults with physical disabilities who reside in Prince Edward. Services include transportation, Meals on Wheels, seniors' dinners, foot care clinics, assistance with forms, and reassurance checks.
