Special EventsAppreciating our volunteersThe volunteers settled back and relaxed. There were no Meals on Wheels to deliver or drives to be done, just a time to relax and be entertained, and appreciated. Close to 300 volunteers attended Prince Edward Community Care s volunteer appreciation event held the evening of May 31'st, 2001. To celebrate the International Year of the Volunteer and to recognize the effort of the volunteers, Community Care staff planned an event that was pure fun and entertainment.
Jeanette's second album "I Believe in You" is scheduled to be released later this month. For more information visit her website at www.jeanettearsenault.com. For information on upcoming performances of The Trentones contact John Warren at 962-7003. Prince Edward Community Care has over 600 people involved as volunteers in any one year. Everyone who helped with our programs and services during the last 12 months received an invitation the event. Inevitably, however, we missed some of our volunteers. For that we apologize and ask that you please call the office at 476-7493 and help us to keep our list up-to-date. We work hard to keep the list of our volunteers current but it is a challenge. All of our volunteers were asked to submit a recipe that will be compiled into a recipe book as a fundraiser to commemorate Community Care s 25th anniversary in 2002. We are still accepting recipes and we ask our volunteers to send or drop off theirs as soon as possible. If you are not currently a volunteer for Community Care but you have some time to spare to help seniors we sure would like to hear from you! Give us a call at 476-7493, stop in at the office in The Armoury, or check out our website at www.pec.on.ca/seniors. We need people to help deliver Meals on Wheels; serve or set up at Seniors Dinners throughout the County; drive seniors to medical appointments or shopping; act as reception at Foot Care Clinics; visit shut-ins; help prepare income tax forms (next year!); assist with office duties; and help to fundraise. Fundraising activities include tag days, bake sales, selling bean bottles, raffles, and helping to plan events. Time commitment is flexible and volunteer opportunities can be tailored to fit your schedule. Give us a call today or email us at communitycare@on.aibn.com. If you have suggestions or comments about this website please let us know, communitycare@on.aibn.com Your thoughts are important to us. | ||||
