Seniors Luncheon Social

Thursday, November 12, 2009

Community Care is celebrating 30 years of noontime meals for seniors with big changes launched in November.  The new name of the program is the Seniors Luncheon Social.  We received 32 submissions of ideas for the name in response to a contest announced in October.  Thirteen different people provided their ideas and the winners of the contest to name the program were Carrolle and Ken Wright from Consecon.  The prize for the winners was gift certificates for 5 meals at the Seniors Luncheon Social.

New caterers, Bill & Marni Grieve of Wheel House & Occasions Catering, provided a tasty meal of homemade soup, roast beef with gravy and horseradish, mashed potatoes, buttered corn, bread and butter, coleslaw, and rice pudding for dessert at the first Seniors Luncheon Social held on November 4th in Consecon.  Twenty-three seniors enjoyed the meal and commented on the excellent food.

The new price for the Seniors Luncheon Social is $10.00/person and reservations are necessary. The next Seniors Luncheon Social will be in Demorestville on Wednesday, November 18th, and in Picton on Wednesday, November 25th.  Seniors are asked to call and reserve by 12 noon on the Monday prior to the luncheon.  Participants are asked to bring their own plate, cup and cutlery, and a bowl for soup.
