Membership
THE HUMAN ELEMENT

It has been suggested, that any organization (and Community Care is no exception) may quite easily be compared to a person. This is said because over the years, the qualities so reflective of our basic humanity, help develop an organization’s character and shape its personality.

In all of this, people are the critical factor. The staff, the volunteers, the members at large who by dint of their interest and the support accorded in so many ways, are the ones who make an organization come alive and give it muscle. They enable it to exist within its related community as a significant entity. Something that would be missed by many, if its presence were suddenly to be removed from the scene, and only an empty space existed where it once flourished.

As a consequence, how important it is that everyone now associated with Community Care recognize that they are much a part of all that it has come to be, and continues to do. This applies as well to those not involved in any regular or “hands-on” activity with clients, but who purchase a membership, or make a donation. All support provided whatever its nature, helps to maintain the services of those who have the talent and training required of staff people. This makes possible the provision of “faces” that smile, “ears” ready to listen; “eyes” open to opportunities to help; “voices” to speak words of advice and assurance; together with “wills” to intercede; “hearts” that feel; “hands” that reach out; and “feet” that take caring people wherever they need to go.

So, members of Community Care - thank you for being you, and for all that you do and/or help make possible, which when seen through our eyes is doubtless, much more than you realize. The reality is simply this. Down through the years, and because of people like you, we have become what we are. A very human and caring organization - and for this we are grateful!

25 Years of Meals on Wheels!
On Friday, October 28th Community Care for Seniors celebrated 25 years of Meals on Wheels in Prince Edward County with a party at the Community Centre. Bau St-Cyr, Executive Director of a Meals on Wheels program in Ottawa was the guest speaker who spoke about the history and the future of Meals on Wheels. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to meal providers and to service club volunteers who deliver the meals, to recognize their support over the years. The volunteer of the year award was presented to Joan & Peter Thissen who have been volunteering with the Meals on Wheels program since its’ inception. Brad DeMille entertained the group on guitar.
