Seniors’ Dinners in October
The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association is celebrating 30 years of the “Seniors’ Dinners” program with big changes coming in November (there won’t be any dinners in October).  The first is a new caterer – Bill & Marni Grieve of Wheel House & Occasions Catering.  The price will be $10.00 for tasty, high quality meals.  The meals will continue to be held on Wednesdays each month in Consecon, Demorestville, Picton and twice a year in Milford.  Seniors are welcome to attend the meal in any of these locations.  The name of the program is going to change.  Prince Edward Community Care has launched a contest to name this revitalized meal program for seniors.  Call 613-476-7493 with your ideas or email communitycare@on.aibn.com  Deadline to suggest a new name is Friday, October 16th.  The person who suggests the name that is chosen will win a gift certificate for 5 free meals!

Walking Program- starts in October in Picton & Wellington
Put on your walking shoes because Prince Edward Community Care for Seniors sponsors a walking program which takes place Monday to Friday at the Prince Edward Collegiate Institute in Picton and at CML Snider Elementary School in Wellington, and has started up again this month.   Participants must register in advance.  This is a great opportunity for seniors and others to walk in a safe environment during the winter months.  Call The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association at 613-476-7493 to register or for more information.

Arthritis Self-Management Program - starts October 1st
The Arthritis Society is presenting the Arthritis Self-Management Program series starting Thursday, October 1st. It will be held in Picton at the Community Care office in The Armoury.  With this 6 week program series participants will learn: how to manage pain and fatigue, handle stress, eat healthy and exercise with arthritis.  The program series will run on Thursday afternoons, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm, at 206 Main Street, The Armoury, in Picton.  To register or for more information call 1-800-410-4033, ext 104.  The cost is $35.00 per person which includes a reference book or $50.00 per couple sharing a book.  

Office closed Monday, October 12th    
The Prince Edward Community Care office will be closed Monday, October 12th for the Thanksgiving holiday.  Meals on Wheels will be delivered as usual on this day.
