Consecon Seniors Dinner - May 6th
Prince Edward Community Care is holding a Seniors’ Dinner at the Consecon United Church Hall, on Wednesday, May 6th at 12 noon. Catering is by the Wooden Spoon and they are serving roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas and rice pudding. Following the dinner there will be a short presentation on Advance Care Planning with Joscelyn Mathewman, a nurse with the Prince Edward Family Health Team. What if you can’t speak for yourself? Learn how to plan ahead. This event offers an opportunity to get out and meet with your friends and neighbours, have a delicious hot lunch, and learn something about an important subject. Attendance is by reservation only. The cost is $7.50. Call 613-476-7493 to reserve your place by no later than Monday at 12:00 noon. Bring your own plate, cup and cutlery.

Living well with a chronic disease
A Chronic Disease Self-Management Workshop series starts May 15th in Picton. With this 6 week workshop series participants will learn: techniques to deal with frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation; exercise; communication; nutrition; medication; problem solving; decision making; and how to develop a personal action plan.

The Prince Edward County Community Care for Seniors Association, in partnership with the Prince Edward Family Health Team are co-sponsoring this workshop series which will run on Friday afternoons, from 1:30 to 3:30pm, beginning May 15th and ending June 19th. The workshops will take place at the Prince Edward Community Care office at 206 Main Street, The Armoury, in Picton.

To register or for more information please call 613-476-7493. The cost is $35.00 which includes a 400 page reference book. A spouse or family member may also attend for an additional $15.00.

Office closed Victoria Day - Monday, May 18th
The Prince Edward Community Care office will be closed Monday, May 18th for Victoria Day. Meals on Wheels will be delivered as usual on this day.

Picton Seniors’ Dinner - Wednesday, May 20th
Prince Edward Community Care is holding a Seniors’ Dinner in Picton at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 78, on Wednesday, May 20th at 12 noon. Catering is by the Wooden Spoon and they are serving roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, peas and rice pudding. This dinner is a great opportunity to get out and meet with your friends and neighbours and have a delicious hot lunch. Attendance is by reservation only. The cost is $7.50. Advance Care Planning - June 3rd
Join in a conversation about Advance Care Planning with Joscelyn Matthewman, a nurse with the Prince Edward Family Health Team. A maximum of 10 people will meet with Joscelyn in the Activity Room at Prince Edward Community Care to discuss how you can plan for a day when you can’t speak for yourself. Participants will receive a 14 page booklet with information on what to consider as you prepare advanced directives or a living will. Registration is required for this free session being held on Wednesday, June 3 from 2-4pm.
